Banbury Tennis Leagues - Easier & Smarter Online Scorecards

I have updated the online scorecards on the Banbury Tennis Leagues website to make entering match results much faster, clearer, and less prone to mistakes.

Here is a quick summary of what is new:

1. Labelled Player Slots & Automatic Doubles Pairings
  • In the Players section at the top of the scorecard, each slot is now clearly marked with its league position badge (for example 1L, 2L, 1M, 2M in Floodlit/Winter/Weekend Mixed, or 1M-3M and 1L-3L in the Summer Weekday League). You can hover over any blue badge to see the full role description.
  • Once you select or type the players in the Players section, all Doubles Rubbers below are now automatically populated in the exact pairings required by that league's rules. You no longer need to enter player names twice.
  • Each rubber header also clearly shows who plays whom

2. Improved Squad Dropdown
  • Clicking any player box (or the small arrow on the right of the box) immediately opens your full team squad list.
  • If you select the wrong player by mistake, you can simply click the box again and pick another player to replace them in one click, or use the x button inside the box to clear it. You can also still type a new player's name if they are not yet in your squad list.

3. Saving a Draft vs. Submitting for Approval
  • Save (Draft): You can click Save at any point (for example, after entering lineups before the match or partway through entering scores) to keep a draft and finish it later.
  • Submit for Approval: When the match is finished and all scores are entered, click Submit for approval. Submitted results appear in red on the Results grid until checked and approved by the League Administrator, at which point they are added to the league table.

4. Additional automatic Score & Tiebreak Checking ( Leagues admin still approves results )
  • The scorecard now checks set scores, tiebreak scores (first to 7 points with a 2-point difference, e.g. 7-4 or 8-6), and the total points available in the match before allowing submission.
  • If a score or tiebreak is missing or invalid, the scorecard will highlight the affected rubber in red and show what needs checking in the Match Status box at the bottom, preventing accidental submission errors.

If you have any questions or spot anything unusual when entering a result, please let me know.
