At Banbury Tennis Leagues we are focused on stimulating interest in tennis and increasing grass roots participation in Banbury and District by offering competitive tennis to clubs in the area.
Our team competitions are played all year-round in a variety of formats and are currently enjoyed by over 900 players of different abilities ranging from complete novices to county standard from 16 different Tennis Clubs across Oxfordshire, Northamptonshire, Buckinghamshire and Warwickshire.
We are always looking to expand and would love to hear from the new players, teams and clubs willing to join in.
If you would like to play competitive tennis at any level in a friendly and well organised competition then please get in touch !
Summer League:
In Division 1 2016 winners and runners up have swapped their places with Byfield A been a clear winner and the only team in the first division to win all their 12 matches.
Byfield A finished 15 points above Banbury A who were in turn only 1 point clear from Banbury West End A who finished third!
Charlbury A won Division 2 with a loss of only one game and they are been promoted back to Division 1
Division 2 runners up Deddington A are also returning into Division 1.
Banbury B are the winners of Division 3 with Hook Norton B finishing second.
Both teams are returning into Division 2 after only one season in the lower division.
In Division 4 both the winner and the runner up were from Byfield! Respectively C and D teams both had a very strong end to the season with Harbury coming a close third.
Hook Norton C Summer won Division 5 and they were the only other team in the league apart of First Division Byfield A to win all their matches.
Charlbury C Summer finished runners up.
New (Summer Weekend) League:
Ladies
A very close finish between Warwick and Kings Sutton Ladies with Warwick just pipping Kings Sutton by only 1 point!
Mixed
Warwick won the league with Byfield team coming second. It proved to be a close affair with three out of the four teams ending up with 2 draws each
Mens
We only had 3 entries in this division with Harbury deciding last minute to play in mixed league. The teams therefore played each other twice with Byfield team winning this division and Middleton Cheney coming second.
